Retro Development

I had the idea reflecting the shape of my task work, that i would use the circularity to form a TYRE shape and keep the use of banners throughout. The banners also link well with my first experiments with Kwikfit. I drew a few basic ideas and layouts with a vector tool and added them to my sketch book.

Here is the process of constructing my shape, through image examples:

So step by step i used the gradient tool and the circle tool to layer up and build my shape. I then drew out a small rectangular shape to be used as the sidewall tread and added this all the way round with the rotation tool.

Close up you can also see my recurrent use of the dotted retro line, as seen in the original task piece. This works nicely as decoration and keeps the theme flowing.

Final Tyre:

BANNERS

Seen previously, here is a higher detailed version of my banner layouts. I added similar colours to the ones chosen on my original task and felt the rich red colour clashed well with the black tyre.
Here is my favourite and most effective banner shape, suitable and professional.

I then zoomed in and added some extra details to add more embellishment and RETRO-ness to the overal appearance. Colourful and appealing. Also note my shading technique of a group of small dark triangle shapes.

I then continued my experiment with font, looking more into bold ones than the Art deco ones i had researched. In the end i decided the third font LOBSTER was best suited to the design as it was retro, appealing and had an interesting flow of line which also added a nice feature to how it overhung the banner shape.

Now to continue the fluent retro style i decided to add a shading effect behind the TYRE title, similar to the embellishment on the banner. Here is my examples as i add a dark blue outline behind, almost like a drop shadow.

- Also notice the addition of the tagline i had previously experimented with (positioning and italic font)
