Task Four - Composition and Layout

This week my title was 'Composition and Layout' Which included further development and arrangement of text in my designs and refining work from my previous tasks.
Here is an example design i thought of, relating more to a retro theme. I examined the use of shape and circularity and how they could effectively be used to produce a suitable and effective outcome.

In the three images above you can see my experiments with shape, clipping masks, colour and text. In the top image you can see my use of triangular shapes with the application of motor imagery enhanced with a clipping mask to create a bold and outstanding design, similar to the second image where i have used shape as a layer to form more of a 'decoration' for the design, topped off with a suitable arrangement of titling text. The third image is my personal favourite being a hand drawn vector pattern where i have arranged similarly used triangular shapes with a suitable selection of colour.

Above is an example of how i have taken a pre-existing layout and recreated it. The top image is a sourced image from my task booklet, which (seen in the image below) has been reconstructed with its best features enhanced.

In yet another series of experimentations i took the work of Harry Cresswell (top image) and attempted to recreate it in a similar and relevant way. I sourced some photography from 'Supergraphics.com' and applied a warp effect to my chosen titling text, also note how i reconstructed the use of a fine rectangle about the text.

In this collection you can see yet another sourced artist image from my task booklet. This artist focuses more on typography which i have recreated in my on style below, i have also experimented further with my own use of colour and the use of textures in the main title.

Above are some experiments with Paper cutting techniques. The top two images are artist sources by Kiwicakes and Sophie Buckland. You can see how in the image below i have interpreted technique by cutting the paper in my sketchbook page. This was a good idea and i felt it could possibly be used in the creation of products.

Critical Appraisal - Week Three

This week we discussed 'Volume and Proportion'
I have followed advise from last week and used my previous targets in my most recent project.

This weeks aims are:
1. Attempt to manipulate the letters
2. Continue the use of photography filters

Task Three - Volume and Dimension

My task three was titled 'Volume and Dimension' which included creating 3D illustrative designs.
With my interpretation of the title i designed my own Net and created six 3D letters for the word 'TRAVEL' I supported my work with a range of thoughtful photography which can be seen below.

I took my photos in an urban environment and applied a suitable set of filters which i manually created to enhance my photographs.
