In this next phase i decided to experiment with clipping mask and applying a real photo of a tyre to my design rather than a simple vector drawn one. Here is an example of the original photo and the outcome.
Vector tyre and Photo tyre.
In my next phase of work i decided to stop and research into Art Deco fonts as i had previously touched on Retro styled work in my tasks and noticed my current font has ART DECO qualities especially in the N of DISCOUNT.
These are three popular fonts ATLAS REGULAR, LEMON DROP and LIMELIGHT. All rather different focusing on pure decoration and fancy. Notice the difference in shape from lines to smooth edged. Also the range of thickness in each one especially Limelight with its thickness of vertical lines.
Further experimentation with the colour of my vector tyre and the use of the new clipping mask tyre.
I had the idea of making my vector tyre out of skattered shapes and dashes seen right at the top of the image. This was just a different outlook on the design. I also decided to start incorporating the companies Tagline into my design being
'unbeatable prices and first class service'
You can see how i have experiment with two different fonts to see which would fit best. Towards the bottom of the image you can also see experimentation of the tag lines scaling and arrangement.
Here is further experiment of the tag lines layout and further experiments with the use of the scattered tyre shape.
I decided that the original vector tyre shape looked more professional than both the clipping mask and dashed versions so here you can see i have took the original shape into design and still continuing the layout of my tagline. I also felt an italic font best suited my design as it clashed from the rest of the work making it stand out and appear separate to the logo.
CLIPPING MASK EXPERIMENT
As another experiment with my tyre shape i created another hand drawn vector tyre tread and used photoshop brushes to make it appear rough and textured. I then imported it into illustrator to use as a clipping mask in the tyre shape. I found although eye catching and powerful it looked rather messy and unprofessional so abandoned the idea. Although it didn't prove successful it is important i go into this kind of depth in order to create the PERFECT final outcome.
In reference to my research on ART DECO fonts i now decided it would be useful to try them out, so began another title experiment. You can see a range of different fonts all unique. In the end i chose to keep the original font as i had grown on its presents in the design and felt even under competition it worked the best.
